Tossed Salad with Buttermilk Dressing

1/2 cup buttermilk
2 tablespoons sour cream
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1/2 teaspoon chopped shallots
1/2 teaspoon cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
6 to 7 cups lightly packed mixed salad greens (about 1 pound)

Whisk together buttermilk, sour cream, mayonnaise, shallots, vinegar, sugar, salt and garlic powdering bowl until well blended. Refrigerate for up to 2 days.
To serve, toss the salad and greens in a large bowl with half the buttermilk dressing to coat. Pass remaining dressing.
