Sweet Potato Pie

2 cups mashed cooked sweet potatoes
2/3 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 cup heavy cream
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell
Sweetened whipped cream (optional)

Heat oven to 450. Combine sweet potatoes, sugar, cream, eggs, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice. Pour mixture into pie shell. Bake pie 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 325 and bake pie 40 minutes longer or until center is set. Cool completely on wire rack. Serve with whipped cream, if desired. Refrigerate leftovers.
