Magnolia Pie

1 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
3 large eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract
1 unbaked 9-inch pastry shell
Garnishes: whipped cream, lemon slices

Combine first 3 ingredients; beat at medium speed with a mixer until blended. Add eggs, buttermilk, and flavorings. Beat at low speed until blended. Pour into pastry shell.
Bake at 325 for 1 hour or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Garnish, if desired.
