Chile-Tamale Pie

1 (25-ounce) can chili with beans
1 (14 1/2-ounce) can tamales, cut into thirds
1 medium onion, chopped
1 or 2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and finely chopped
1 cup crushed corn chips
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded Cheddar cheese
1 avocado, peeled and sliced

Combine first 4 ingredients in a lightly greased 1 3/4-quart casserole. Bake at 400 for 25 minutes or until bubbly. Combine corn chips and cheese; sprinkle over top of casserole. Bake 5 additional minutes or until cheese melts. Top with avocado.
